Scope and Pinpoint

This may be the most important part of the App

As vehicles have become more complex, and there is no such thing as a unmonitored component, knowing how to work the digital side of our job is paramount. Taking out the mystery, training, tooling, for the modern car is tough. This site is here to help get the understanding, and workflow protocols to be a success. What is success? Diagnosing correctly, and Quickly, complex, and sometime difficult issues.

When do I "Pull The Scope Out"?

Really, if you have a Scope, and a few probes. ( WPS, Differential, Amp. Volt) you should be ready to pull it out on every Drivability type Daig. Set yourself up for success. Be ready.

One of your first things is to divide the job. Is it mechanical? Is it digital layer?  Voltage? Even a combination. A simple RC, or VE, at the very beginning starts to divide and conquer. As Diag Techs, we are not "finding" as much as eliminating. Test, Prove, and Repair. The DIAGFLOW App reflects this idea. This Scope section hones in on the area that needs the most attentionand training.

How do we train today?

Training can come in many forms, and in todays world, is critical. As an NWACA board member, ATE Conference trainer and assistant,  CBC Adjunct teacher, I know this better than most. But, in todays shop, we need training when? NOW. Speed to Market matters. Connecting with help maters. I have found that much of the "training" we have gotten over the years is on a car, that is broken now, and you need help, now. This training module and help section is designed to help that. The following will help get you up to speed, no matter your level. A Newbie, can get some results quickly. And results mean progress. An experienced Tech will find help in best practices, new ideas, known good WF, and just good workflow. (some Techs talk themselves out of good workflow) Too many times, I have seen good Tech, reluctant to " get the scope out" and as a result, cost hours of work time. You cant prove what you cant see. And my theory is I Don't Take Anything Apart Until I Know What is Wrong With It. (HT Adam Robertson)
